From a Church of around
40 in 1980, St John’s has grown to be a community of around 450 people
across 2 main congregations and has planted another congregation in a new
development in the parish, which has grown to over a 100 members – St
Luke’s. Having reached a
‘ceiling’ we began the transition to becoming more “Cell
Church” in style some 5 years ago
– the new mindset and way of doing relationally based Church is still in
process. We now believe we have
hit another ceiling and this year hope to appoint a Children &
Families Worker and a Youth Minister to join the Staff Team to oversee
these important areas of work. St John’s is committed to mission and our ministry is based on the Word & Spirit of God. Our Purpose (why we are here) is to : |
||
| Celebrate | together the presence of God | (Worship) |
| Welcome | all into the family of God | (Community) |
| Teach | believers to follow the way of God | (Discipleship) |
| Reach | out to everyone with the love of God | (Evangelism) |
| Serve | Christ and each other with the gifts of God | (Ministry) |
| And our Mission is: | ||
|
"to experience and express the presence and love of God at the heart of the community." |
||
|
Our Church building was
re-ordered and extended in 1988 and currently we are planning the complete
redevelopment of our Church hall to further our mission in our
neighbourhood. Our
Vision is to see St
John’s increasingly become more relevant to our community
and town, by demonstrating the word
and works of the Kingdom. |
